NEW ORLEANS — The New Orleans Recreation Development (NORD) Commission continues its 2025 Athlete of the Week program by honoring another standout youth athlete who exemplifies leadership, skill, and heart both on and off the field.
NEW ORLEANS — The City of New Orleans announced today that it will mail formal collection notices to drivers with unpaid parking tickets in the coming weeks, kicking off a 60-day notice period before collection activities begin through the Louisiana Office of Debt Recovery (ODR). To give drivers one final opportunity to avoid added costs, the City has extended its Ticket Amnesty Program through Oct 31.

NEW ORLEANS — The City of New Orleans Department of Public Works (DPW) announces that beginning the week of Monday, Sept. 29 at 7 a.m. crews will start patching, brick crosswalk removal, and restoration work on Harrison Avenue from West End Boulevard to Argonne Boulevard; this process is anticipated to last approximately three weeks.

The City of New Orleans today issued the following statement in response to a call for the Louisiana Legislative Auditor review:
The City of New Orleans Mosquito, Termite and Rodent Control Board (NOMTRCB) reports that additional mosquito pools collected from the West Bank of Orleans Parish this week have tested positive for West Nile virus (WNV). WNV cycles between wild birds and mosquitoes and can be transmitted to humans and animals by the bite of an infected mosquito. These positive samples indicate that WNV is actively circulating among local mosquitoes and bird populations.

The City of New Orleans participates in an annual audit conducted by Carr, Riggs & Ingram (CRI), an auditing firm procured through the New Orleans City Council in 2022. The report from CRI is submitted annually to the Louisiana Legislative Auditor for review and evaluation.
At the request of the New Orleans City Council, the Department of Finance welcomes the Louisiana Legislative Auditor to review all of the City's financial records, as it is the department's position that transparency is at the forefront of our operating principles, and we will be fully cooperative in this effort.

The Mayor's Office of Supplier Diversity today announced the launch of the second cohort of the City of New Orleans' Mentor-Protégé Program, a transformative initiative designed to strengthen the local business ecosystem through strategic partnerships between established companies and certified Disadvantaged Business Enterprises (DBEs).
The City of New Orleans Department of Public Works (DPW) announces that beginning the week of Sept. 22, there will be intermittent lane closures on Canal Boulevard in both directions from City Park Avenue to Filmore Avenue. These temporary lane closures will allow DPW contractor Hard Rock Construction Co. LLC. to complete concrete panel replacements as part of the DPW775: Right of Way Improvement Concrete Project.
