Traffic Advisory: Temporary Closure of Washington Avenue and S. Derbigny Street Intersection
NEW ORLEANS – Beginning Wed., Feb. 26, weather permitting, the Office of Stormwater & Green Infrastructure’s contractor, Impetus Infrastructure, LLC, will implement a temporary roadway closure at the intersection of Washington Avenue and S. Derbigny Street to perform waterline repairs for the DPS01 Watershed (Broadmoor HMGP) Drainage Upgrades and Green Infrastructure Project (Phase I).
The temporary closure will begin at noon. on Feb. 26, at the intersection of Washington Avenue and S. Derbigny Street and will remain in effect until 5 p.m. on Feb. 27. Traffic continuing on Washington Avenue will be detoured to Toledano Street to continue travel. During this project, the contractor will be working from 7 a.m. until sunset, Monday through Friday.
The DPS 01 Watershed Drainage Upgrades and Green Infrastructure project is a two-phased implementation approach to reduce flooding, particularly in the Broadmoor and Central City neighborhoods, and to implement green infrastructure (GI) features in the stormwater drainage system to reduce runoff and create and enhance public landscape and park amenities. This will be accomplished by upgrading the City’s stormwater drainage infrastructure with green storage, infiltration, and filtration landscape features along with pipe and street upgrades. Storage will be added throughout the system to create a cascading effect that stores and detains runoff. The project also includes water and sewer improvements that are impacted by the stormwater improvements.
The DPS01 Watershed (Broadmoor HMGP) Drainage Upgrades and Green Infrastructure Project (Phase I) was designed by CDM Smith Inc. and is being constructed by Impetus Infrastructure, LLC. Click here to view the Factsheet with more information about Phase 1 of this project.
