TRAFFIC ADVISORY: Revised Street Closure and Striping Information on Magazine Street Resurfacing Project

NEW ORLEANS — The City of New Orleans provides an update regarding the ongoing Magazine Street Resurfacing Project. On Tuesday, Feb. 25 (DPW) contractor Boh Bros. Construction Co., LLC., will close the westbound lane of Magazine Street between Nashville Avenue and East Drive for paving operations. On Wednesday, Feb. 26, the closure will shift to the eastbound lane. Crews will work between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. each day, keeping one lane open in the direction where construction is not taking place, with the closures being lifted at the end of each workday to allow traffic to resume. Additionally, roadway striping will be conducted on Thursday, Feb. 27 and Friday, Feb. 28 from 5 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day.

Public safety remains the City’s top priority. Parking on both sides of Magazine Street is prohibited during daytime construction hours (parking will be allowed at night). “No Parking/Tow Away Zone” signs will be posted in the active work areas, and additional traffic control measures will be in place to guide pedestrians and vehicles safely around the construction zone.

Please note that paving operations were originally scheduled to begin Monday, Feb. 24, but have been postponed due to rain.  All dates, times, and durations are subject to change based on weather or other conditions.

This work is part of the DPW773 2024 Right of Way (ROW) Improvements Phase 2 Project, an interim initiative to enhance roadway conditions until the total reconstruction of Magazine Street is completed in 2027.
