TEMPORARY INTERSECTION CLOSURE OF LOWERLINE ST. AND BIRCH ST.

Beginning at 9 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 27, the City of New Orleans, Department of Public Works’ contractor, Renegade Construction, LLC., will temporarily close the intersection of Lowerline St. and Birch St. approximately two days, through October 29, to accommodate roadway restoration as a part of the East Carrollton B&C construction project. Public safety is our top priority; signage and traffic control measures such as barrels and fencing will be onsite to direct drivers and pedestrians.   

  

During this closure, traffic will be rerouted on Hickory Street (Westbound) to Fern Street (Southbound). To regain connection Back to Lowerline Street vehicular traffic can rejoin by going eastbound on Jeanette Street. Residents and businesses in this area were notified of the closure via a neighborhood canvass.      

  

The $28.7 million East Carrollton Group B&C project was designed by Ardurra and is being constructed by Impetus Construction, LLC. The scope of work varies by block but includes repairing sewage, water, and drainage line; rebuilding the street entirely; and repairing sidewalks and curbs.  In general, the contractor is working from 7 a.m. until sunset, Monday thru Friday. The entire project is scheduled to be complete by the Winter 2026, weather permitting.  

  

Since May 2018 DPW has completed 228 projects with an estimated value of $1.28 Billion. 44 roadwork projects currently under construction with an estimated value of $507 million.
