TRAFFIC ADVISORY: CLOSURE ON ALLEN TOUSSAINT FROM VICKSBURG ST TO GENERAL HAIG ST

The City of New Orleans announced that beginning Thursday, September 11, 2025, the Department of Public Works (DPW) contractor, CMG Pipelines, Inc., will temporarily close the westbound lane of Allen Toussaint Boulevard through Monday, October 6, 2025, to accommodate utility work in the 7100 block of General Diaz Street. During this period, the eastbound lane of Allen Toussaint Boulevard will be reconfigured to support two-way traffic. These temporary closures are necessary to complete essential roadway and utility improvements, ensuring long-term safety and durability of the infrastructure.

This work is part of the $20M Lakeview North Group F & G joint infrastructure project between the Department of Public Works and the Sewerage and Water Board of New Orleans. Once complete, residents will experience improved drainage, repaired streets, curbs, and sidewalks, and the installation of ADA-compliant curb ramps at intersections. The project is scheduled to be fully completed by Summer 2026, weather permitting. Parking impacts are anticipated in the construction area for the duration of the project. “No Parking” signs will be posted in advance, and motorists are encouraged to follow posted restrictions to help ensure a smooth and safe construction process. Work hours will be Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Safety is our top priority. Traffic control measures and signage will be in place to guide motorists and pedestrians safely through the area. For more information, visit www.nola.gov/dpwprojects or call 504-658-8036.
