TRAFFIC ADVISORY: Temporary Street Closures in the French Quarter for French Quarter Festival Public Safety

The City of New Orleans announced that effective immediately, the New Orleans Police Department (NOPD) is implementing temporary street closures in the French Quarter as part of its public safety plan for the French Quarter Festival. City crews will begin reopening the streets at 7 a.m. on Monday, April 14.

The following streets will be closed to vehicular traffic:

  • Royal Street, from Conti Street to St. Peter Street (intersections will remain open)
  • Decatur Street, from Conti Street to St. Peter Street (intersections will be closed)
  • Bourbon Street, from Canal Street to Dumaine Street

These closures are a part of the NOPD’s security measures to help ensure the safety of festivalgoers, residents, and local businesses.

At the NOPD’s request, the Department of Public Works (DPW) will provide support by placing water-filled barricades at key locations.

These closures are in addition to previously announced parking restrictions and other festival-related traffic adjustments.

Motorists are encouraged to observe all posted signage and use alternate routes during the closure period.
