Paint Reclamation Project by the City of New Orleans and the Green Project Begins Tuesday, April 22

For the eighth year, the City of New Orleans Department of Sanitation is partnering with The Green Project on a Paint Reclamation Project. From Tuesday, April 22, through Saturday, April 26, residents will be able to pick up reusable paint processed from the City’s Annual Household Hazardous Waste Materials Collection Day, which was held on April 12. Orleans Parish residents dropped off a significant amount of paint at the event, which welcomed more than 627 vehicles.

This project diverts usable paint from disposal, offers residents free paint, provides a way to recycle household hazardous waste, and helps protect the environment.

Usable water-based and oil-based paint will be reclaimed, sorted into like colors, and made available to the community at no cost. The event is open to all residents — no registration is required. Residents may visit from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.Tuesday, April 22, through Saturday, April 26, at the City’s Recycling Drop-Off Center, located at 2829 Elysian Fields Ave.

GUIDELINES:

  • Paint can only be picked up during the days and times listed above.

  • Once taken off-site, paint cannot be returned to the Recycling Drop-Off Center or The Green Project.

  • It is the responsibility of those picking up paint to assess quality and color based on their needs.
