Mayor Helena Moreno Traveling to Louisiana Municipal Association Conference in Monroe to Expand Partnerships with Cities Across Louisiana
Mayor Helena Moreno announced today that she will travel Wednesday, August 5 to the Louisiana Municipal Association (LMA) Conference in Monroe as part of a broader effort to strengthen partnerships between New Orleans and communities across Louisiana.
The conference provides an opportunity to meet with mayors and municipal leaders from across the state to identify practical ways cities can work together to expand economic opportunity, strengthen tourism, improve infrastructure, support workforce development, enhance public safety, and share innovative ideas.
“Every city in Louisiana has something to offer, and every city has something to learn,” said Mayor Moreno. “I want New Orleans to be a strong partner to communities across our state. If there’s a door I can open for another city, I want to do it. As cities working together, we can lift each other up, gain major wins and create opportunities that benefit all of Louisiana. After all, we all wear the same jersey for Team Louisiana.”
Mayor Moreno noted that collaboration through the Louisiana Municipal Association has already delivered meaningful results. During this year’s legislative session, the City of New Orleans and the Louisiana Municipal Association worked together to eliminate Municipal Police Employees’ Retirement System (MPERS) fines that had affected many Louisiana municipalities, proving what can be accomplished when cities unite around shared priorities.
Mayor Moreno said her participation in the conference reflects a broader strategy of strengthening partnerships at the state and regional levels.
Building Partnerships Across Louisiana
During the Louisiana Municipal Association Conference, Mayor Moreno will meet with mayors and municipal leaders from throughout the state to identify opportunities for long-term collaboration between New Orleans and other Louisiana communities. The administration will continue building those relationships beyond the conference through ongoing engagement with local leaders across Louisiana.
Expanding Regional Cooperation Across Southeast Louisiana
Mayor Moreno is also continuing to strengthen regional collaboration across the ten-parish Greater New Orleans region, working alongside regional partners, including Greater New Orleans, Inc. (GNO, Inc.), to advance shared priorities. The effort focuses on aligning economic development, transportation, workforce initiatives, resilience planning, and business recruitment while recognizing that the region is strongest when communities work together.
Mayor Moreno made a commitment at the outset of her administration to deepen regional cooperation, and that commitment has already produced meaningful results, including helping move forward the long-awaited West End redevelopment through a collaborative partnership among Jefferson Parish stakeholders. She will continue working with neighboring communities to pursue opportunities that strengthen the entire region while creating greater opportunities for New Orleans.
