NORD Announces NOLA Idol Finalist Showcase at The Fillmore
NEW ORLEANS – The New Orleans Recreation Development (NORD) Commission is proud to announce the highly anticipated NOLA Idol Finalist Showcase, where the winners of the inaugural NOLA Idol competition will be revealed. The event will take place on December 11 at The Fillmore, with doors opening at 7 p.m. and the show starting at 8 p.m. This free, family-friendly showcase celebrates New Orleans’ incredible vocal talent and invites the community to witness aspiring artists take center stage.
Led by NORD Artist-in-Residence and Grammy Award-winning musician Irvin Mayfield, NOLA Idol has engaged communities citywide, highlighting the exceptional vocal talent within New Orleans. The competition featured three rounds of auditions and celebrity coaching, culminating in this grand finale.
The showcase will feature performances by the finalists, supported by Irvin Mayfield’s world-touring band. Adding to the excitement, there will be special guest appearances by New Orleans music legends Cyril Neville and David Batiste. The evening will be hosted by renowned radio personality Wild Wayne, promising an evening of extraordinary performances and community celebration.
“NOLA Idol is a unique opportunity for the city to directly engage with our incredible communities of talent across the entire city,” said Larry Barabino, Jr., CEO of NORD Commission. “We’ve been working with Mr. Mayfield throughout his residency to develop a program that truly showcases the wealth of creativity we have in New Orleans. This showcase is a celebration of our city’s unmatched talent and community spirit.”
All teen and youth finalists will also be honored as Teen Idols in a special performance moment. The first, second, and third place winners of NOLA Idol will receive cash prizes.
This free admission, all-ages event invites families, friends, and music lovers to come together and celebrate New Orleans’ rich artistic heritage.
