Official Statement from the City of New Orleans Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness

NEW ORLEANS — The City of New Orleans Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness (NOHSEP) today issued the following statement:

The New Orleans Emergency Operations Center (EOC) was activated on Dec. 31, 2024 on New Year’s Eve at 6 p.m. and staffed by employees from various departments. The EOC deactivated from a full activation to Duty Officer Monitoring, per protocol, at 1:30 a.m. on New Year’s Day, Jan. 1, 2025. It reactivated on New Year’s Day by 4:11 a.m. to a full activation upon notification of the incident. The EOC remained fully active through Fri., Jan. 3, 2025, and continues to operate as a Crisis Action Team with staff and other partners, as needed.
