Temporary Traffic Adjustments on O’Keefe Avenue and Lafayette Street Intersection for Public Safety

NEW ORLEANS – The City of New Orleans Department of Public Works (DPW) today announced that beginning on Sunday, Jan. 12, and lasting approximately 10 days, portions of O’Keefe Avenue will be temporarily converted to two-way traffic to accommodate local traffic only. This adjustment is necessary while the intersection of Lafayette Street and O’Keefe Avenue remains closed for public safety due to concerns associated with the collapse of a building's exterior brick wall.

Public safety remains the City's top priority. Signage and barricades will be in place to direct pedestrians and vehicular traffic safely around the area. The reopening of the intersection is contingent upon the building receiving the structural supports needed to secure the site. Once reopened, traffic will initially be limited to one lane until the area is fully restored.
