City of New Orleans Reminds Residents of Monthly American Rescue Plan Act Information Sessions

Please note, due to remodeling at the Nora Navra library, the ARPA Information Session to be held there on May 9 has been cancelled.

NEW ORLEANS — On March 11, 2021, President Biden signed the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) of 2021 (H.R. 1319) into law. The $1.9 trillion package is designed to directly combat the COVID 19- pandemic and its impacts to states and municipalities. The City of New Orleans received $388 million in ARPA funds. As of February 2024, $245 million has been spent and another $48.5 million has been obligated, representing 76 percent of the City’s total appropriation.

ARPA Information Sessions for May will be held May 6, 7 and 8 at libraries throughout the City of New Orleans. Due to remodeling at the Nora Navra library, the ARPA Information Session scheduled for May 9 at 5:30 p.m. has been cancelled; however, residents may still attend the meetings on May 6, 7 or 8. The same content will be provided at each meeting, which will focus on an overview of ARPA, updates on the City of New Orleans ARPA funded projects portfolio, current and upcoming funding opportunities, a question-and-answer session and an opportunity to meet the ARPA Project Management Office.

In May, the City will also highlight ARPA funded employment opportunities and Office of Economic Development resources. New Orleanians interested in learning how APRA projects are providing resources and improving infrastructure and public services, organizations interested in applying for funding opportunities, as well as those who are eager to use their professional background, experience and skills ensuring ARPA projects are executed in a timely manner in full compliance of federal guidelines, are all welcome to attend.

ARPA funded positions are approximately 2 years, ending Dec. 31, 2026, and are available in fields such as project management, compliance, criminal justice coordination and data analytics.
