NORD Announces Athlete of the Week

The New Orleans Recreation Development (NORD) Commission continues its Athlete of the Week program, recognizing outstanding youth athletes from NORD youth and middle school leagues. This 11-week initiative highlights athletes who excel on the field and demonstrate leadership. Selected by coaches and NORD officials, each week’s honoree is featured on WGNO’s Friday Night Football, airing at 11 p.m.

Ninth Athlete of the Week: Glenn Braxton

This week’s Athlete of the Week is Glenn Braxton, a 14-year-old running back and linebacker for the Robert R. Moton Charter School Owls in NORD’s Middle School Division. In a standout performance against the ReNEW Schaumburg Jaguars, Glenn carried the ball 14 times for 122 yards and scored three touchdowns. On defense, he showcased his skills with six tackles and a strip fumble, contributing significantly to his team’s success.

Glenn is not only an impressive football player but also excels in baseball and is a member of the Spartan Boxing Club. He draws inspiration from his favorite athlete, Lamar Jackson, as he continues to demonstrate dedication and versatility in his athletic pursuits.

Congratulations to Glenn for his remarkable performance this week. We look forward to highlighting more of NORD’s talented young athletes throughout the season.
