TRAFFIC ADVISORY: TEMPORARY LANE CLOSURES OF EASTBOUND LANES OF OLD GENTILLY ROAD (LOUISA ST TO DESIRE PKWY)
NEW ORLEANS — The City of New Orleans Department of Public Works (DPW) announces that starting Monday, Nov. 11 at 7 a.m., there will be full lane closures to all through traffic in Eastbound lanes of Old Gentilly Road, within the current construction footprint running from Louisa Street to Desire Parkway. These full lane closures are expected to last from 7 a.m.– 5:30 p.m. to allow SWBNO to complete waterline repairs. These waterline repairs are needed to complete the concrete panel replacements already underway. After SWBNO water work is completed, traffic will resume the construction traffic pattern that was in place to complete the roadway work.
Concrete panel replacement will impact the 4300 - 4600 blocks of Old Gentilly Road (Desire Parkway to Louisa Street).
The temporary lane closures will allow DPW contractor Hard Rock Construction Co. LLC to complete concrete panel replacements as part of the DPW775: Right of Way Improvement Concrete Project. Traffic will be shifted to one lane and local access will be maintained.
Drivers are encouraged to use alternate routes during the closure. Traffic control measures — including signage, cones, and fencing — will be in place to ensure the safety of drivers and pedestrians. Parking will be prohibited on blocks where crews are actively working. “No parking” signs will be posted in advance to notify residents and businesses.
This work is part of the DPW775: Right of Way Concrete Improvement Project, which includes concrete panel replacement, paving and sidewalk repairs at various locations throughout the city. Hard Rock Construction Co. LLC is leading construction activities, which generally take place Monday through Friday, with occasional weekend work as needed.
