TRAFFIC ADVISORY: Full Closure of 5700 Block of Magazine Street for Underground Utility Work

The City of New Orleans Department of Public Works (DPW) is notifying residents and motorists of a full closure of the 5700 block of Magazine Street beginning at 6 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 6, and continuing through 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 7. 

 

This temporary closure is required to accommodate underground utility work being performed under private permit number 25-17372-RCZD. The work is being completed under the direction of the Sewerage and Water Board of New Orleans (SWBNO).

 

Traffic will be closed in both directions within the 5700 block. However, the intersection will remain open to traffic.

 

Detour Routes:

• Drivers traveling toward the Central Business District on Magazine Street may detour via Henry Clay Avenue to St. Charles Avenue or Tchoupitoulas Street.
• Drivers traveling toward Audubon Zoo on Magazine Street may detour via Napoleon Avenue to St. Charles Avenue or Tchoupitoulas Street.
• Signage will be posted at Jefferson Avenue indicating local access only during the closure period.

Traffic control measures, including barricades and detour signage, will be in place to guide motorists and ensure safety.
