TRAFFIC ADVISORY: TEMPORARY STREET CLOSURES ON BIENVILLE STREET FOR WORK IN EXCHANGE ALLEY
The City of New Orleans announced today that, effective immediately, the Department of Public Works (DPW) contractor, Boh Bros. Construction Co., will temporarily close the 600 block of Bienville Street (Royal St. - Chartres St.) to vehicular traffic. The closure will remain in place through end of the week to accommodate roadwork in Exchange Alley.
These temporary closures are necessary to complete essential roadway, drainage, and lighting improvements to ensure long-term safety and durability in the area.

As part of the DPW773: 2024 Right of Way (ROW) Improvements Project, Phase 2, crews will be removing roadway, repaving the asphalt roadway from curb-to-curb, repairing damaged sidewalks, installing ADA compliant curb ramps at intersections, and replacing damaged underground water, sewer and drainage lines. Construction is expected to continue through the end of October, weather permitting. During this period, the alley will be closed to all traffic.
Parking impacts are anticipated in the construction area for the duration of the project. “No Parking” signs will be posted in advance, and motorists are encouraged to follow posted restrictions to help ensure a smooth and safe construction process. Work hours will be Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Safety is our top priority. Traffic control measures and signage will be in place to guide motorists and pedestrians safely through the area.
