TRAFFIC ADVISORY: TEMPORARY LANE CLOSURES OF OLD GENTILLY ROAD (LOUISA ST TO DESIRE PKWY)
he City of New Orleans Department of Public Works (DPW) announces that starting Thursday, Oct. 16 at 7 a.m., there will be intermittent closures to through traffic on lanes of Old Gentilly Road, from Louisa Street to Desire Parkway. These closures are expected to last for approximately two weeks.
Concrete panel replacement will impact the 4300–4600 blocks of Old Gentilly Road (Desire Parkway to Louisa Street), including areas leading to the on-ramp of I-10.
The temporary lane closures will allow DPW contractor Hard Rock Construction Co., LLC, to complete concrete panel replacements as part of the DPW775: Right-of-Way Improvement Concrete Project. Traffic will be shifted to one lane, and local access will be maintained.
Drivers are encouraged to use alternate routes during the closure. Traffic control measures including signage, cones, and fencing will be in place to ensure the safety of drivers and pedestrians. Parking will be prohibited on blocks where crews are actively working. “No parking” signs will be posted in advance to notify residents and businesses.
This project includes concrete panel replacement and paving/sidewalk repairs at various locations throughout the city. Work hours are generally 7 a.m. – 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, with occasional weekend work as needed.
