New Orleans Health and Human Services Expands Benefits Access Support for Residents
NEW ORLEANS — The New Orleans Department of Health and Human Services (NOHHS), in partnership with the Louisiana Public Health Institute (LPHI), is expanding support for New Orleans residents seeking access to public benefits through a grant from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation.
As part of the partnership, Rosalyn Mariano has joined the effort as an Enrollment and Benefits Access Specialist. Mariano is employed by LPHI and works with NOHHS to help residents navigate benefit systems, reduce barriers to enrollment, and connect with available services and resources.
Mariano has 15 years of experience helping individuals navigate complex benefit systems and access essential services.
“Too often, a complicated process can become the reason someone does not receive the support they are eligible for,” Mariano said. “My goal is to make that process easier to understand, reduce frustration, and help residents successfully connect to the resources they need.”
Through the W.K. Kellogg Foundation grant, NOHHS and LPHI are working together to strengthen benefits outreach and enrollment assistance, increase awareness of available resources, and identify opportunities to make the process easier for New Orleans residents.
In her role, Mariano will work with residents and community partners to provide enrollment support, expand outreach, and help individuals and families overcome barriers that can make accessing assistance difficult.
“Success means making sure people know help is available and that they do not have to navigate these systems alone,” Mariano said. “I’m excited to build trust in the community and help ensure residents who qualify for assistance can successfully access it.”
Residents interested in enrollment and benefits assistance can go to nola.gov/enroll, find the time and location for assistance nearest them, sign up for an appointment, and learn what documents they will need.
