Biological control agents are living organisms that can naturally help reduce pest populations. For mosquitoes, biological control agents target the larval stages, preventing them from becoming adults. These natural tools stop mosquitoes before they can grow, fly, and bite—and they are safe, effective, and often longer lasting than chemical treatments. Meet some of the biological control agents that we use at NOMTRCB.

Copepods (Mesocyclops logisetus) Mosquitofish (Gambusia affinis)
NOMTRCB offers free biological control agents to help residents reduce mosquito populations around their homes. Biological control agents can be a great alternative to chemical controls to keep your water holding habitats mosquito free! These natural biological control agents are an excellent alternative to chemical control and work especially well in non‑aerated ponds, neglected or non‑functioning pools, fountains, bird baths, tires, and other water‑holding habitats. NOMTRCB offers free pick-up or delivery of mosquitofish or copepods for Orleans Parish residents. To set-up a pickup or delivery please contact our office, put in a 311 request, or follow this link.
