The City of New Orleans Mosquito, Termite and Rodent Control Board to Conduct Adult Mosquito Abatement Tonight

The City of New Orleans Mosquito, Termite and Rodent Control Board (NOMTRCB) will conduct spray missions tonight, targeting adult populations of mosquitoes. Treatments will be conducted by helicopter and trucks from 7:45 p.m. to 12 a.m., weather permitting, in the following areas:

• Helicopter treatment in the Lower 9th Ward and Holy Cross bounded by Florida Avenue, N Peters Street, Sister Street, and the parish line
• Helicopter treatment in the Upper 9th Ward and Bywater bounded by Florida Avenue, Chartres Street, Franklin Avenue, and Japonica Street
• Truck treatment in Seabrook and Little Woods bounded by Hayne Boulevard, Morrison Road, Downman Road, and Paris Road

The City of New Orleans Mosquito, Termite and Rodent Control Board (NOMTRCB) will conduct spray missions tonight, targeting adult populations of mosquitoes. Treatments will be conducted by trucks from 7:45 p.m. to 12 a.m., weather permitting, in the following areas:

• Algiers Point and Behrman bounded by the Mississippi River, General De Gaulle Drive, the parish line, and Holiday Drive
• Aurora Gardens and Old Aurora bounded by the Mississippi River, General De Gaulle Drive, Holiday Drive, and the Intracoastal Waterway

The City of New Orleans Mosquito, Termite and Rodent Control Board Reports West Nile Virus Detected in Mosquito Pool and Will Conduct Adult Mosquito Abatement Tonight

The City of New Orleans Mosquito, Termite and Rodent Control Board (NOMTRCB) reports that mosquitoes collected this week from the East Bank of Orleans Parish tested positive for West Nile virus (WNV). WNV cycles between wild birds and mosquitoes and can be transmitted to humans and animals by the bite of an infected mosquito. NOMTRCB will conduct spray missions tonight, targeting adult populations of mosquitoes.

The City of New Orleans Mosquito, Termite and Rodent Control Board to Conduct Larval Mosquito Abatement Tonight by Truck

The City of New Orleans Mosquito, Termite, and Rodent Control Board (NOMTRCB) will conduct larval mosquito abatement by truck tonight, targeting the larval stages of mosquitoes to prevent them from developing into adults. Truck treatments will take place from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., weather permitting, in the following area: 

• Lower 9th Ward and Holy Cross bounded by Florida Ave., N. Peters St., Sister St., & Delery St.

Louisiana Mosquito Control Association and the New Orleans Mosquito, Termite and Rodent Control Board co-host the Annual Louisiana Mosquito Control Association’s Education Day

The 67th Annual Meeting of the Louisiana Mosquito Control Association (LMCA) will be held in New Orleans from Dec. 10 through 12. This meeting brings together operational administrators, staff members, educators, students, state employees, and industry representatives from across the state to discuss best practices for mosquito abatement and preventing the diseases they transmit based on sound scientific principles. Each year, in conjunction with the professional meeting, a day is designated to invite local schools to educate students about mosquitoes and the activities of local mosquito abatement districts.
