A Back to School Giveaway at Joe W. Brown Park on August 4th, 2023

This past Friday, over 1,000 New Orleanians attended the Mayor’s Neighborhood Engagement Office Back to School Fair at Joe W. Brown Memorial Park.

Close to 700 students were served with backpacks and school supplies. The event was more than just a school supply giveaway.

Thanks to the Audubon Institute and City Park Conservancy, over 1,500 attraction passes were provided to students and their families. To ease financial pressures of the back-to-school season, NEO teamed up with six local barbers who provided free haircuts to over 100 children.

The atmosphere was full of joy, as students enjoyed face painting, sno-balls, pizza, fresh juices, and a video game truck.

Parents were also able to gain valuable information from resource fair partners, which covered topics such as healthcare, healthy foods, and housing security.
