A Neighborhood Cares Day at the Donsereaux/Harrison Playground on March 23, 2022
On March 23rd, 2022, the Mayor’s Neighborhood Engagement Office held a Neighborhood Cares Day at Donsereaux/Harrison Playground in Algiers.
A team of 75 volunteers, including Mayor Cantrell, participated in a neighborhood clean-up, collecting over 150 trash bags and 75 bulk items, as well as clearing over 30 catch basins.
City Departments also worked to abate 17 lots throughout the neighborhood and demolish two blighted buildings. Volunteers also made improvements to the playground, including building and installing benches, re-painting the clubhouse, striping the basketball court, and restoring fencing.
Dozens of community organizations and city departments tabled at the playground for Community Resource Fair, providing neighbors crucial information and services, including COVID-19 testing and vaccinations, job opportunities, and blood pressure checks.
