A Community Clean-Up at the Cut-Off Recreation Center in Algiers on September 9th, 2023

On Saturday, September 9th, the Mayor’s Neighborhood Office held a highly successful Community Clean-Up at the Cut-Off Recreation center in Algiers.

Over 60 volunteers donated their time to beautify and clean the neighborhood. Many groups provided volunteers for the event, including Asbury United Methodist Church, Dillard University, and Algiers neighborhood associations.

The enthusiastic crew collected over 1,800 cubic gallons of trash, 25 tires, 20 bulk items, and also cleared catch basins. City departments were also out in force in the neighborhood cutting lots and filling potholes.

The Department of Public Works filled a notoriously disruptive pothole that restricted access to the Cut-Off Recreation Center and the Asbury United Methodist Church.
