NEW ORLEANS – Today, the New Orleans City Council Governmental Affairs Committee confirmed Mayor Helena Moreno's appointment of Alyssa Rambeau as the Director of the Department of Finance. In a unanimous vote, Rambeau received committee confirmation to lead the department responsible for forecasting annual revenues, recommending fiscal policy and budgetary strategies, management of cash flow and maximization of investment earnings on idle cash as well as coordination of operations of the Employee Retirement System among other responsibilities.
“Turning around the City’s finances is one of our highest priorities. Alyssa is a key component of our team focused on addressing the city’s chaotic and complicated budget deficit crisis. I know she has the talent and expertise to help return the city to a firm financial footing,” Chief Administrative Officer Joe Giarrusso said. “Her more than 20 years of experience as a strategic leader and financial professional, including work inside government, provides The City of New Orleans a foundation necessary to tackle the city’s complex needs. Thank you to the Council for unanimously advancing her confirmation.”
NEW ORLEANS - Today, the City welcomed a proposed review of sanitation service data to be launched by the Louisiana Legislative Auditor. In the course of reviewing the opportunities to close the $24 million budget deficit in sanitation services, the auditor helped flag issues with the age and accuracy of sanitation service data, prompting an effort to fully review the number of service locations currently served by the city.
"We must ensure that the cost for services is accurate as we work to reset the fee. Therefore, I agree with the auditor that an audit to verify the number of households being serviced is essential," said Mayor Helena Moreno. "We continue to welcome the partnership with the Legislative Auditor as he uses his resources and expertise to review and scrutinize all aspects of the City's operations in order to get the best results for the people of New Orleans.”
