New Orleans City Council Passes Legislation Endorsing Safe Streets for All Action Plan

NEW ORLEANS, LA — Today, the New Orleans City Council passed Resolution R-26-137, endorsing the City’s Safe Streets for All Safety Action Plan, a comprehensive strategy to reduce traffic fatalities and serious injuries citywide.

The plan, approved following a presentation to the Transportation and Airport Committee, identifies high-risk corridors and prioritizes safety improvements, including better lighting, visible crosswalks, protected intersections, and traffic-calming measures to protect pedestrians and cyclists.

City Council Regular Meeting Summary

NEW ORLEANS, LA – At its regular meeting on April 9th, the New Orleans City Council adopted several different servitudes. These servitudes allow property owners to legally retain or use encroachments, such as a portion of a building, a balcony, or another structure, that extend into the public right-of-way, as well as to generate annual revenue for the City. The Council also adopted a resolution in support of the goals and ideals of “National Youth HIV/AIDS Awareness Day” and other pieces of legislation.
