The New Orleans Fire Department (NOFD) is on the scene investigating the partial collapse of a three-story commercial building at the corner of Lafayette Street and O’Keefe St.
On Saturday, December 14, 2024, at 2:08 a.m., the New Orleans Fire Department (NOFD) responded to a call reporting a fire at the corner of Earhart Blvd. and Fern St. The first NOFD unit arrived on the scene at 2:12 a.m., finding a single-story commercial building (7901 Earhart Blvd) already heavily involved in fire.

On December 12, 2024, members of the NOPD’s Violent Offender Warrant Squad and the U.S. Marshals arrested Jeremiah Williams (black male, DOB: 12-25-1999) in its investigation of a homicide that occurred on November 3, 2024, in the 700 block of Tchoupitoulas Street.
NEW ORLEANS – The City of New Orleans proudly announces its recognition from the Arbor Day Foundation as a 2024 Tree City USA, honoring the city's commitment to planting, growing, and maintaining trees to benefit the community. New Orleans also received the Growth Award for exceeding the four Tree City USA standards, which include maintaining a tree board or department, having a community tree ordinance, spending at least $2 per capita on urban forestry, and hosting an Arbor Day celebration
