On June 5, 2026, at 12:53 p.m., the New Orleans Fire Department (NOFD) was dispatched to assist in the recovery of a body in the water near 8000 Lakeshore Dr. The first NOFD unit arrived on scene at 1:01 p.m. and immediately requested assistance.
The Carl Holmes Executive Development Institute (EDI), in collaboration with the New Orleans Fire Department (NOFD) and the Black Association of New Orleans Firefighters (BANOFF), hosted the 2nd Annual Carl Holmes EDI Youth Initiative on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, in Room 168 of the Professional Schools & Sciences Building at Dillard University.
The New Orleans Fire Department (NOFD) recognizes the Carl Holmes Executive Development Institute (EDI) for 35 years of excellence in fire service leadership education and professional development, as well as its 25 year partnership with Dillard University. Since its founding in 1991, Carl Holmes EDI has provided leadership training and professional development opportunities for more than 2,500 fire service personnel worldwide.
On Friday, May 29, 2026, the New Orleans Fire Department (NOFD) conducted a promotional ceremony for twenty members receiving in-service promotions to the positions of Apparatus Operator, Fire Captain, District Chief, and Deputy Chief. Three NOFD Fire Recruits were also recognized as graduating to the position of Probationary Firefighter. The ceremony was held at the Treme Recreation Community Center, 900 N. Villere St., NOLA 70116.

A fire underneath the Interstate-610 overpass, between Paris and St. Bernard Avenues, prompted the closure of I-610 during this morning’s rush hour commute. Today, Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at 6:21 a.m., the New Orleans Fire Department (NOFD) was dispatched to a reported “outside fire” in the 1500 block of Pleasure St.

On Wednesday, April 15, 2026, at 3:04 p.m., the New Orleans Fire Department (NOFD) was dispatched to a reported fire involving a residence 2802 St. Claude Ave., in the Bywater. The first NOFD unit arrived on the scene of 2800-02 St. Claude Ave. at 3:09 p.m., finding a large camel-backed, multi-unit dwelling with fire heavily involved in the rear of the building.

On Saturday, April 4, 2026, at 6:31 P.M., the New Orleans Fire Department (NOFD) was dispatched to 6322 Chef Menteur Hwy. Upon arrival, firefighters observed heavy flames and smoke coming from a room on the third floor at the front of the Super 8 Motel.

On Wednesday, March 18, 2026, at 12:56 p.m., the New Orleans Fire Department (NOFD) was dispatched to a reported fire involving an occupied dwelling at 4525 Charlene Dr. in New Orleans East. The first NOFD units arrived on the scene at 1:03 p.m., finding the rear of a single-family dwelling heavily involved in flames.
