On Saturday, December 30, 2023, at 7:32 a.m., the New Orleans Fire Department (NOFD) was dispatched to a reported fire at 1401 Delachaise St. The first NOFD company arrived on the scene at 7:37 a.m., finding a wood-framed, multi-floor property with smoke emanating from the rear, upper-floor/roof area of the building.

Today the city of New Orleans and the New Orleans Fire Department (NOFD) held a promotion ceremony for NOFD Recruit Class R-02-23. Recruit Class R-02-23 consisted of eighteen New Orleans Fire Department recruits who endured a twenty-three-week training regimen focusing on all aspects of firefighting, including classes such as Structural Firefighting Techniques, Apparatus Driver Training, Hazardous Materials, and Marine Firefighting.
