NEW ORLEANS, LA - On Thursday, March 5, 2026, the Criminal Justice Committee met to hear presentations from members of the Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness, the Office of Violence Prevention, and Healing Minds NOLA, as well as Honorable Judge Kern Reese of the Orleans Parish Civil District Court. The Committee also reviewed and voted on an ordinance amending an existing Cooperative Endeavor Agreement between the City and Healing Minds NOLA.

NEW ORLEANS, LA – District A City Councilmember Aimee McCarron will host a “Light the Night” community walk in the Hollygrove neighborhood on Monday, March 2. This initiative is focused on identifying streetlights that have been out for a significant period of time and highlighting areas where additional lighting would improve public safety and neighborhood visibility.
NEW ORLEANS, LA – At its regular meeting on Thursday, February 26, 2026, the Council adopted several pieces of legislation, including an ordinance to establish a temporary “Special Event Clean Zone” from June 29 to July 6, 2026, within a designated area of New Orleans during the 2026 ESSENCE Festival of Culture. Additionally, the Council adopted an ordinance to amend the 2026 Capital Budget to reallocate $750,000 in bond funding to the Department of Parks and Parkways for the Louis Armstrong Park Master Plan, along with several other pieces of legislation.

NEW ORLEANS, LA — Today, the New Orleans City Council and Mayor Moreno announced a Capital Budget Ordinance allocating $6.25 Million for Street Paving Projects. Using funds identified from the unused portion of bonds from 2019-2024, the city will invest in paving equipment, street maintenance equipment, and a dedicated workforce to perform street repairs.
