Ordinance Calendar No. 27,687, to promote a spay and neuter program for dogs and to establish an intact dog permit, has been withdrawn from the agenda of today’s regular City Council meeting.

    Council President Arnie Fielkow Celebrates the Opening of Special Olympics’ Parish Tournament

    New Orleans, LA –October 22, 2009 – City Council President Arnie Fielkow commenced the Special Olympics Louisiana’s Parish Invitational Tournament event with inspirational words to the athletes and volunteers during the opening ceremonies Thursday morning.

    The Special Olympics Louisiana and the New Orleans Recreation Department partnered as hosts for the horseshoe and softball tournaments held today, which were free and open to the public of St. Bernard, Orleans and Jefferson parishes. The event was held at Joe Brown Memorial Park Softball Complex and included more than 70 volunteers from the U.S. Marine Corps and surrounding Orleans Parish schools. Athletes were honored during an afternoon awards ceremony.
