Business Incentives & Sustainability

The City of New Orleans and its partners offer a variety or programs that provide resources that help local businesses save money and operate more sustainably.

Energy Smart

Energy Smart is an energy efficiency program administered by Entergy New Orleans on behalf of the New Orleans City Council. Energy Smart offers comprehensive and innovative energy efficiency solutions to help Entergy New Orleans residential and business customers save energy and money by reducing the up-front cost of a variety of energy efficiency upgrades.

For more information about the Energy Smart program, visit www.energysmartnola.info.

Adopt a Catch Basin

The City’s Adopt a Catch Basin program enables residents to participate in this effort by adopting a catch basin in their neighborhood. Many residents want to adopt their catch basin to reduce the likelihood of flooding in their neighborhoods.

Participants select a catch basin on the Adopt-A-Catchbasin (nola.gov) web map, adopt it, and give it a name. Their adoption is a simple commitment to sweep the debris (leaves, trash, and dirt) from in front of the catch basin and dispose of the items in a garbage can with a secure lid. The interactive map allows volunteers to report the dates on which they cleaned their catch basins.

Sustaining Our Urban Landscape (SOUL)

SOUL (Sustaining Our Urban Landscape) is driving a resilient and environmentally equitable New Orleans by reforesting our urban landscape. SOUL plants trees throughout the city to stave off flooding, reduce pollution, improve community health, and provide beauty and shade.

Solar for All NOLA

Solar for All NOLA is a City led program aimed at increasing awareness and access to affordable solar and battery storage options for all residents of New Orleans. Solar for All NOLA is a partnership between the City of New Orleans, The Greater New Orleans Foundation, PosiGen, and Solar Alternatives. By partnering with local solar developers, the program offers free feasibility studies to all interested households and businesses, provides leasing and financing options, and low-cost energy efficiency upgrades for those ready to make the switch to solar.
