Firefighters Trapped in Two Alarm Fire

On Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at 12:27am, the New Orleans Fire Department received a 911 call to 2430 Gladiolus Street.  Upon arrival companies found a single-story wood frame camelback heavily involved advancing toward adjacent homes.  A second alarm was struck while firefighters made an interior attack to extinguish the fire.  While advancing down the side of the home, the camelback portion of the home collapsed, trapping two firefighters under the debris.  The building was evacuated to do a proper roll call for accountability and a rescue team was deployed.  The two firefighters were rescued and transported to local hospitals where they were treated and released with minor injuries.  The home had utilities that were shut off during the incident but the home was unoccupied.  There were no other injuries and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
