NOFD Combats Two-Alarm Fire in the Treme Neighborhood

On Thursday, August 15, 2024, at 4:37 a.m., the New Orleans Fire Department (NOFD) was dispatched to a reported dwelling fire in the city’s Treme neighborhood. Arriving on the scene of 2325 Dumaine St. at 4:41 a.m., firefighters encountered a vacant two-story, wood-framed, single-family dwelling already heavily involved with fire in the rear of the building. Firefighters immediately conducted a primary search of the property, while simultaneously conducting initial fire suppression operations and implementing actions to protect occupied exposures in the immediate vicinity of the fire building. The size of this structure and the threat to exposures, prompted the call for a second alarm at 4:48 a.m.

 

Seventeen NOFD units, supported by forty-six Fire Operations personnel were used to bring this incident under control at 5:27 a.m. There were no civilian or firefighter injuries reported and the cause of the fire is being investigated. Entergy crews responded to assist with the mitigation of this incident as did New Orleans Emergency Medical Services (NOEMS) as a precaution for firefighters working in the summer heat.
