October 7, 2024 | From New Orleans Fire Department
Louisiana-Task Force 1 (LA-TF 1), our state’s Region 1 Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) Team and comprised of SE Louisiana First Responders, will deploy to Central Florida ahead of the anticipated landfall of hurricane Milton. Firefighters and Emergency Medical Services personnel from New Orleans, St Bernard, Hammond, Kenner and Lafourche Fire Departments as well as New Orleans Emergency Medical Services personnel will be traveling to the Tallahassee, Fl area today for overnight staging with plans of mid-day arrival to the Orlando (Convention Center) on Tuesday, October 9th just prior to hurricane Milton’s projected arrival.
As Gulf South residents, we completely empathize with the anticipated danger and uncertainty being faced by our neighbors in Florida, especially while still attempting to recover from the devastation of hurricane Helene. We’d like to wish safe travels to the members of LA-Task Force 1 and pray for the safety of all in this storm’s path.
