October 12, 2024 | From New Orleans Fire Department
On Saturday, October 12, 2024, at 9:06 p.m. the New Orleans Fire Department (NOFD) was dispatched to 105 Vallette Street in Algiers. Upon arrival, firefighters were confronted with a working fire in a two-story wood framed dwelling. The first NOFD company arrived on the scene at 9:11 p.m. The home suffered significant damage on both first and second floors in the rear of the building. A second alarm was struck for additional staffing due to the proximity of homes in the area, and the building contained three (3) separate apartment units. Four (4) occupants of the building are displaced, two cats survived the blaze and no injuries were reported. The fire was placed under control at 10:00 p.m. and its cause is currently being investigated.
