Saturday, October 26, 2024, at 11:39 p.m., the New Orleans Fire Department (NOFD) responded an apartment building at 1570 Conti Street. The first company arrived on the scene at 11:43 p.m., finding a responsive resident outside suffering from minor smoke inhalation. The middle-aged male was treated with oxygen and transported to University Hospital for further evaluation. The resident stated that he and a middle-aged male friend got into an argument in his home and the friend threatened him, squirted accelerant all throughout his apartment, set fire to it and left the apartment. Firefighters entered the apartment and found light smoke and minor fire damage in multiple areas of the home which had been mostly extinguished by the buildings sprinkler system. Seven NOFD units carrying nineteen Fire Operations personnel were deployed to bring this incident under control at 11:55 p.m. The cause of the fire is Aggravated Arson and the person of interest is sought by the New Orleans Police Department. 911 Call Received: 1st Alarm: 11:38 p.m. On Scene: 11:43 p.m. Under Control: 11:55 p.m. NOFD Personnel: 19 NOFD Units: 7 Cause: Aggravated Arson Injuries: Smoke Inhalation, civilian
