On Wednesday, November 13, 2024, at 9:13 p.m., the New Orleans Fire Department (NOFD) received a dispatch reporting a possible fire involving a single-story, wood-framed double in the 2400 block of Music Street. The first NOFD company arrived on the scene at 9:21 p.m., finding the rear left side of an occupied residence at 2405-07 heavily in flames. Upon arrival firefighters were notified that all residents were safe but there were two dogs still inside. NOFD Fire Operations personnel quickly forced entry to search for the dogs, while simultaneously performing an aggressive interior attack on the fire. Both dogs were located and removed safely from the residence.
Seven NOFD units, supported by twenty-one NOFD Fire Operations personnel, were used to bring this incident under control at 9:33 p.m. There were no injuries reported and the cause of the fire is still under investigation. The owners of the pit-bull and yorkie rescued during this incident sincerely thanked our fire personnel for their efforts.
