NOFD RESPONDS TO TWO-STORY BUILDING COLLAPSE

On Monday, December 30, 2024, at 5:43 p.m. the New Orleans Fire Department (NOFD) was dispatched to a building collapse at 1815 Magazine Street. Upon arrival, they found a two-story vacant building with the second-story partially collapsed, debris covering the sidewalk, and a vehicle parked directly in front of the structure. The vacant building is located at 1700 Magazine Street at the corner of Felicity Street, Safety and Permits officials are on the scene to determine the safety of the building and surrounding areas. Officials are asking the public to stay clear of the scene but are contemplating safe traveling routes around the area. Entergy is on the scene to mitigate any issues with power lines and possible gas leaks.
