January 18, 2025 | From New Orleans Fire Department
A fire on the tracks of a roller coaster at the former Six Flags amusement park in New Orleans East (NOE) has garnered the attention of NOE residents and motorists driving by. The fire involves roughly fifteen feet of coaster track approximately seventy feet above the ground. The topography of the area, isolation of the site and location of the fire makes it completely inaccessible to New Orleans Fire Department (NOFD) equipment and personnel. Although highly visible, this fire is not a threat to public safety. The site of this incident is in the process of being demolished. Representative of the demolition company, Korver Demolition, have been contacted and are aware of the situation. The NOFD has received several 911 calls regarding this incident and would like residents to know we are aware of the incident, and we are currently monitoring the situation.
