NOFD Responds to One-Alarm Fire in Mid-City
On Tuesday, March 25, 2025, at 9:38 a.m., the New Orleans Fire Department (NOFD) responded to a call reporting a building fire at the corner of S. Telemachus St. and Palmyra St. NOFD firefighters arrived on the scene of 3705 Palmyra St/ 235 S. Telecachus St., a large two-story, multi-unit unoccupied dwelling, at 9:42 a.m.
The second-floor rear of the building was heavily involved upon NOFD arrival. Flames had already breached the building’s roof. The building’s dilapidated condition wasn’t the only operational hazard encountered by firefighters, over a dozen propane tanks were located and removed from the second floor.
Nine NOFD units, supported by twenty-five Fire Operations personnel were used to bring this incident under control at 10:11 a.m. A two-story duplex, at 233 S. Telemachus St., received light to moderate damage to its exterior siding from radiant heat. There were no injuries reported and a NOFD Fire Investigator has been called to the scene to try to determine the cause of the fire. Entergy gas also responded to the scene to mitigate any gas utilities possibly servicing the structure.
