NOFD RESPONDS TO TWO ONE-ALARM FIRES
On Tuesday, March 25, 2025, at 3:55 p.m., the New Orleans Fire Department (NOFD) was dispatched to 1217 Franklin Ave. Upon arrival, firefighters found an active/working fire in a single-story vehicle repair shop. Fire crews observed that heavy smoke and flames were emanating from the center and rear of the structure. The owner of the building was on the scene and advised firefighters that there was a vehicle that had caught fire within the structure. As fire crews quickly moved to extinguish the fire, they observed that the fire had spread to two other vehicles inside the building and had burned through the roof. NOFD personnel did an extraordinary job containing and controlling the fire, considering the proximity of the other residences near the structure, and there was no damage to nearby buildings. There was a total of six (6) vehicles in the building, with three (3) sustaining significant damage. No injuries were reported by fire personnel or the civilian population.
Ten (10) NOFD units staffed with thirty (30) fire personnel were deployed to bring the incident under control.
