Two Alarm Fire at 2003 Dumaine Street

On Saturday, April 12, 2025, at 10:33 a.m., the New Orleans Fire Department (NOFD) responded to a 911 call to home at 2003 Dumaine Street. The first company arrived on the scene at 10:38 a.m., reporting smoke and fire coming from the rear of the home extending to the attic. The residents were already outside of the home reporting that the kitchen area was on fire and that they had pets still inside of the house. A second alarm was struck by the incident commander at 10:42 a.m., as firefighters made an aggressive interior attack on the kitchen area and the attic space above. The residents stated that they were asleep and awakened to smoke coming from the kitchen and shut the door to that area while escaping the home. One dog was rescued but another dog perished in the kitchen area.

Seventeen NOFD units carrying forty-three Fire Operations personnel were deployed to bring this fire under control at 11:12 a.m. There were no reports of any civilian or firefighter injuries and the cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
