NOFD Responds to Algiers House Fire

On Monday, July 14, 2025, at 4:08 p.m., the New Orleans Fire Department (NOFD) was dispatched to 325 Homer Street in Algiers. Upon arrival, firefighters were met with a working fire in a single-story wood-framed duplex dwelling.  The first NOFD company arrived on the scene at 4:11 p.m. Firefighters were notified upon arrival that an occupant was still inside the burning structure.  After a thorough search, the person was located and brought to safety.  New Orleans Emergency Medical Services (NOEMS) was on the scene and transported the individual to a local hospital. The home suffered significant damage on the right front side of the unit.  The fire was placed under control at 4:44 p.m., and its cause is currently being investigated.

On Monday, July 14, 2025, the New Orleans Fire Department (NOFD) received notification that the case involving the person who was rescued from the fire located at 325 Homer Street has succumbed to their injuries sustained in that incident.
