Two-Alarm Fire Contained on Louisiana Avenue

Sunday, August 31, 2025, The New Orleans Fire Department (NOFD) responded to a two-alarm fire this afternoon at 933 Louisiana Avenue. The 911 call was received at 4:40 p.m. The first fire company arrived on the scene at 4:45 p.m., reporting heavy smoke from the rear of the residence, which was divided into apartments. The incident commander struck the second alarm at 4:55 p.m. to protect nearby exposures and prevent the fire from spreading further.
According to the homeowner, the incident began while using the oven’s cleaning function, which produced smoke. After briefly leaving the room, the resident returned to find the area on fire. He immediately alerted all occupants, ensuring everyone exited safely, and called the fire department. Firefighters worked aggressively to contain the blaze, bringing it under control at 5:54 p.m.
Sixteen NOFD units, supported by forty-one Fire Operations personnel, were used to bring this incident under control.
