NOFD Battles Early Morning Two-Alarm Fire
On Wednesday, October 22, 2025, at 5:19 a.m., the New Orleans Fire Department (NOFD) was dispatched to a reported structure fire in the 2600 block of N. Villere St. Arriving at 5:23 a.m., NOFD Fire Operations personnel found a single-story, occupied, wood-framed dwelling with fire heavily involved in the rear of the dwelling. The structure at 2313 N. Villere St. was described as an Airbnb. All four residents evacuated safely prior to NOFD arrival. A day care center, located at 1415 Franklin Ave., was also involved in this incident. Unfortunately, the fire extended into the attic of the building, causing severe damage to the “Kids of Excellence Day Care Center”. The day care center had not yet opened for the day at the time of the fire. A third structure, an unoccupied dwelling at 2619 N. Villere received moderate damage to its left-rear exterior wall and roof.
The close proximity of the property line and rear walls of the two primary structures involved, and the limited visibility of the early morning, made it difficult to determine where the fire originated. More will be known as daylight offers a better opportunity to investigate the incident’s origin.
Seventeen NOFD units, supported by forty-six Fire Operations personnel, were used to bring this incident under control at 7:06 a.m. There were no injuries reported, and the cause of the fire is currently being investigated.
