Resident Displaced by Two-Alarm Fire

On Friday, November 28, 2025, at 9:36 p.m., the New Orleans Fire Department (NOFD) was dispatched to a reported residential fire in the 1300 block of S. Genois St. The first NOFD units arrived at the scene at 9:41 p.m., finding a single-story, shotgun double, at 1332-34 S. Genois St., with fire heavily involving the rear of the dwelling. While performing interior and exterior attacks on the fire, firefighters quickly conducted a primary search for residents. A second alarm was requested, mostly as a precautionary measure, at 9:48 p.m., as the fire began to extend to an unoccupied double to the immediate left (1328-30 S. Genois St.).

Sixteen NOFD units, supported by forty-five Fire Operations personnel were dispatched to this incident, bringing it under control at 10:09 p.m. The adult male that resided at 1334 S. Genois St., was not home when the fire began. The resident arrived at the scene during fire operations, explaining to NOFD personnel that he was unaware of how the fire may have begun. There were no injuries reported, and the cause is currently being investigated. The American Red Cross has been requested to the scene to assist the resident with immediate needs.
