Residents Displaced by Two-Alarm Fire

On Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at 7:33 a.m., the New Orleans Fire Department (NOFD) responded to reports of a fire at a residence at 727 Burgundy St. in the French Quarter. The first NOFD company arrived at 7:44 a.m. and noticed light smoke coming from the rear of the building. They were directed by residents to the fire location, where occupants were trying to extinguish the flames with a small garden hose.  Firefighters noticed that there was an active fire between the first and second floors in a void space.  In an abundance of caution, a second alarm was struck to ensure that enough personnel would be available to conduct evacuations and control further fire spread if needed.  On-scene fire personnel were able to mitigate and extinguish the active fire within the affected area without further damage to the building or other residences in its immediate vicinity.  However, six occupants and two dogs were displaced from the affected residence.
Twenty-two NOFD units, supported by sixty Fire Operations personnel, were used to bring this incident under control at 8:11 a.m.  There were no reported injuries, and the cause of this fire is under investigation.
