February 22, 2026 | From New Orleans Fire Department
On Sunday, February 22, 2026, at 6:10 a.m., the New Orleans Fire Department (NOFD) was dispatched to a reported fire at a building located in the 600 block of S. Peters St. Firefighters arrived at 625 S. Peters St. at 6:16 a.m., finding an unoccupied single-story commercial structure with flames already coming through the roof. Attached commercial buildings on both sides of the structure prompted a request for a second alarm contingent of Fire Operations personnel at 6:17 a.m. Firefighters were able to keep the fire contained to the structure of origin.
Twenty-one NOFD apparatuses and support vehicles, staffed with fifty-three firefighters were used to bring this incident under control at 6:53 a.m. There were no injuries reported and the cause of the fire is currently being investigated.
