NOFD RESPONDS TO THREE-ALARM FIRE IN ALGIERS

On Thursday, January 1, 2026, at 1:08 A.M., the New Orleans Fire Department (NOFD) was dispatched to 118 West Park Court in Algiers. Upon arrival, companies discovered a fire in an apartment building in the rear of the structure. Due to the intense fire and the proximity of the buildings, the commander on the scene sounded a second alarm. As the firefighters attempted to bring the fire under control, they noticed the fire had extended into the attic and may be in danger of further extension. The Chief on the scene struck a third alarm to request additional staff to respond. The members of the New Orleans Fire Department (NOFD) successfully contained the fire to three buildings. The fire companies did an outstanding job of managing the fire, bringing the incident under control without injuries or further extension to adjacent structures. There were no injuries at the time of the incident; however, eighteen (18) people were displaced. The incident was placed under control at 2:43 A.M.
