February 1, 2026 | From New Orleans Fire Department
On Saturday, January 31, 2026, at 11:39 p.m., the New Orleans Fire Department (NOFD) was dispatched to 6319 Kuebel Drive. The initial companies that arrived were faced with a working fire located in the right rear of the building, which was heavily involved. As crews set up for the attack on the fire building, the Chiefs in command realized that the fire was progressing at a very rapid rate and quickly struck a second alarm. There was an additional concern that not all of the occupants had been evacuated from the structure. As crews began to fight the flames and evacuate people from the building, a third alarm was sounded for additional staffing due to high wind velocity off Lake Pontchartrain, which contributed to the fire's intensity and rapid spread. There were at least (20) twenty people evacuated and displaced from the damage caused by the fire. The fire was placed under control at 2:40 a.m., with no reported injuries to civilians or fire personnel. The cause of the fire is under investigation. 911 Call Received: 11:38 1st.
